Parents of young homeschool children often find themselves overwhelmed with the task of finding the right educational tools for their kids to learn and grow effectively. There are so many options out there, that sorting through the good and bad can be exhausting, so my personal goal is to help parents of young children skip the trial and error steps that often come with new methods of learning and determine if the HOMER early learning platform is a good fit for their kids so they can jump right into learning!

Hey there, my name is Jerromy and I am all about that homeschooling life!

I was homeschooled on a farm and I do my best to apply the same values I was brought up with as I teach my own children at home to this very day.

My main goal is to help other homeschooling parents make educated decisions about their kids’ schooling by providing resources and information to help them avoid the mistakes I have made on my journey homeschooling my kids.

What is the HOMER Learn & Grow app for kids?

Homer is a revolutionary early learning program designed to provide children with the resources they need to get a head start on learning to read and discovering basic mathematics; that is not all that’s covered though.

It is a fun and highly educational tool that teaches kids about the world around them, animals, the environment, and the sciences. It’s designed really well and is a great way to help kids learn more than just reading, and all in a fun interactive way that is constructive to the needs of most early learners.

My personal opinion is that HOMER Learn & Grow is truly worth the time and money parents spend on it, and should be incorporated into every child’s early learning lesson plan to create a brighter future in education!

Who is HOMER Learn & Grow intended for?

Parents of children ages 2 – 6+ will absolutely love everything HOMER has to offer, and their kids will have so much fun learning that it won’t be a challenge to have them sit down for thirty minutes and get some “school” done.

There are activities tailored to the following groups:

  • Toddlers
  • Preschoolers
  • Pre-K students
  • Kindergarteners
  • First graders and beyond!

Each child will find something that interests them initially and the app will make suggestions and introduce them to activities that will be constructive to their learning habits based on their specific interests so they can stay engaged longer and learn in a way that means something to them personally rather than having to sort through lessons that cause them to lose interest or feel forced to learn.

HOMER early learning program would be a great addition to any homeschooler’s arsenal but will bring nothing but benefits to your little learners no matter what path you intend to take in their education. Even using the learn with HOMER app to build fundamental education before they start public school will help build confidence and creativity so they will be better prepared to face any educational challenge that comes their way for many years to come.

My family takes an unschooling approach, and all of my children use the HOMER app until they outgrow it around 7 years old. I can honestly say that HOMER has influenced them to be better learners and understand there is so much more to education than just memorizing information; it is 2022, there are better ways to learn than forcing kids to focus on things that don’t interest them.

What information is covered within the platform?

Every child has their own way of learning and that is something that HOMER recognizes, so kids are offered a wide variety of topics that they can engage with on their own accord in order to absorb the information that they feel ready to learn.

This thought process also applies to different age groups as well, and you can expect your child to learn things that relate to where they are developmentally.

Overall, the topics each student will be introduced to are:

  • Exploring Letters
  • Listening Skills
  • Developing Language
  • Engaging with Books

  • Developing Number Sense
  • Discovering Shapes
  • Thinking Mathematically
  • Practicing Counting
  • Exploring Spatial Concepts

Social and Emotional Skills

  • Identifying Feelings
  • Learning About Themselves
  • Observing Social Skills
  • Exploring Self-Expression

Thinking Skills

  • Building Memory
  • Focusing
  • Relating Learning to Real Life

  • Fostering Imagination
  • Storytelling
  • Exploring Art

There are different levels of depth into each of these critical areas depending on the age level, but you can expect the HOMER Learn & Grow app to provide a learning experience perfect for your early learners.

What My Family Loves About HOMER

Starting with my Wife and I are the free moments we get while our younger children are engaged with HOMER. As bad as it may sound, that is well worth the price alone, and knowing they are doing something that builds fundamental skills that will last them a lifetime is absolutely priceless!

Our kids love the fact that there are so many games and videos that are super interesting, and cover a wide variety of educational topics. In fact, the Learn & Grow app has taken the place of YouTube Kids as well as many other games they use to constantly play on their devices.

They dont have to focus on a set learning path, or even stay within one category so the freedom they have to learn their own way makes it a great alternative if they are being a little resistant to other learning activities outside of HOMER, and can be quickly accessed from almost any device; phone, tablet, computer, etc.

You will need a WiFi connection to access the app, but there are learning resources that can be downloaded for use offline if you are planning a trip or happen to be somewhere there is a poor internet connection.

Can Learn & Grow be used as a full curriculum?

In my opinion, it can be a great start for an Unschooling curriculum, especially to get your early learner on the path to reading proficiency. However, there isn’t any real structure to the learning path, and might not be the best option for parents looking for a more “goal oriented” homeschooling curriculum.

Homer Learn & Grow should be on all your kids devices though, if for no other reason than to give them an option that is learning-focused among all their other apps and games. You might be surprised at how many times a day you hear the infamous HOMER intro song throughout the day as they load up the app from time to time on their own.

Everyone in my family does a little dance along with the tune whenever someone loads it up, and that should tell you how many times we  have heard it! It is a very welcome jingle though, and always makes my heart swell with pride knowing my children are so enthusiastic about learning, and the choices I have made regarding their education.

Final Thoughts on the Homer app for Kids

The HOMER Learn & Grow app is a great way to learn fundamental skills early on which makes it perfect for preschoolers just starting to learn how to recognize letters and sounds or a kindergartener who is ready to learn how to sound out and read words and possibly get a head start on First Grade!

The character-based approach is well thought out, with careful consideration put into making sure that each character has a unique personality, voice, and sound to keep your children entertained and educated for hours! Each activity and video is a detailed lesson, focused on getting your kids interested in learning more and more each day and better equipped to face the challenges nearly everyone faces during their journey to adequate education.

Developing foundational skills through play and challenging interactions is the best way for children to learn, and Homer’s learning curriculum is a great way to do just that, so give it a shot today for free! I know my family has enjoyed the many benefits, both fun and educational, that come from this early learning app, and I hope that yours does as well!

For now, I bid you farewell, but know that I am here to help you on your path to home education, and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or just want to chit-chat about homeschooling stuff; Just comment on one of my posts, and I will respond ASAP!
